Enrique Maldonado Killed and One Injured in Uvalde County Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. Highway 57

Uvalde County, Texas (July 2, 2020) – One person was killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Friday in Uvalde County, west of La Pryor, according to authorities.

The fatal crash occurred at about 9:08 p.m. on June 26, on U.S. Highway 57.

Authorities said 18-year-old Enrique Maldonado, was driving a 2007 BMW passenger car westbound and was attempting to elude a Zavala County Sheriff’s deputy when he rear-ended a 2004 Chevrolet van.

The impact caused both vehicles to lose control and rollover several times.

Maldonado was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Chevrolet driver was airlifted to a San Antonio hospital in stable condition.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
