Motorcyclist Injured in Collision with Vehicle on Highway 288 in Freeport

Man Airlifted after Freeport Motorcycle Accident on Highway 288 near Copper Road

Freeport, Texas (March 8, 2023) – A motorcyclist was airlifted to a hospital after a traffic collision near Freeport on Tuesday evening, according to authorities.

The crash occurred at around 4:50 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, on Highway 288 near Copper Road.

Authorities said a 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle and a Hyundai Elantra were both exiting Copper Road.

The motorcycle passed in a no-passing zone and entered into the path of the Hyundai that was attempting to make a left turn onto the highway.

The motorcyclist, a 26-year-old man, sustained a leg injury and was flown to a hospital in Houston. The driver of the Elantra, a 52-year-old Alvin man, was not injured.

DPS is investigating the incident.
