Evelina Silva Among 2 Women Killed in Pharr Crash on Jackson Road near Whalen Road

Pharr, Texas (August 8, 2022) – 40-year-old Evelina SIlva was one of the two women who died following a head-on crash early Sunday morning in Pharr.

The deadly crash happened at around 1:11 a.m. Sunday, August 7, on S. Jackson Road, just south of Whalen Road.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said Frida Nunez-Garza, 21, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when her white Honda Accord collided head-on with a beige GMC Terrain driven by SIlva.

Nunez-Garza was pronounced dead at the scene, while SIlva was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
