Ezekial Castro ID’d as Boy Killed in Riviera Crash on U.S. Highway 77 near State Highway 285
Riviera, Texas (May 31, 2019) – The 15-month-old boy who was killed Tuesday afternoon in a traffic accident in Riviera has been identified as Ezekial Castro, according to authorities.
The tragic accident happened just after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 28 on U.S. Highway 77 near State Highway 285.
Authorities said a Chevrolet Suburban was heading northbound on Highway 77 when for as of yet to be determined reasons, the Suburban veered across the center median into the southbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a semi-truck.
Castro was declared dead at the scene.
Three people inside the Suburban sustained major injuries. The driver and a 10-year-old boy were transported to Corpus Christi Spohn Shoreline while the injured female passenger and a 9-year-old girl, were taken to Christus Spohn in Kingsville.
The driver of the semi-truck was taken to Christus Spohn in Kingsville.
The crash remains under investigation.
