Fernando Sanchez Dies in Hit-and-Run near San Bernardo and Jefferson Street in Laredo

Fernando Sanchez Killed in West Laredo Hit-and-Run Crash near San Bernardo and Jefferson Street

Laredo, Texas – The elderly man who was injured Monday evening in a hit-and-run accident in West Laredo has died and has been identified as Fernando Antonio Fox Sanchez, 74, according to the police.

The accident happened around 10:00 p.m., December 18, near the corner of San Bernardo and Jefferson Street.

Police said Sanchez was hit by a vehicle and the involved driver fled the scene.

Sanchez was taken to a San Antonio hospital where he later died.

The involved vehicle was identified as a black 2016 Lincoln MKZ that was registered to Eryka Castillo,24.

The vehicle was seen crossing into Mexico via the Lincoln Juarez Bridge and surveillance cameras at the bridge captured the Lincoln MKZ, displaying matching the suspect vehicle damage as it crossed from Laredo into Mexico.

Castillo was taken to police headquarters for an interview and it was determined that she was the driver at the time of the hit-and-run crash. She was charged with accident involving injuries and tampering with evidence.

The authorities are investigating the crash.
