54-Year-Old Genoveva Hernandez Killed in Odessa Two-Vehicle Crash at IH-20 and East Loop 338

Odessa, Texas (May 6, 2020) – The woman who was killed Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler in Southeast Odessa has been identified as 54-year-old Genoveva Hernandez, of Monahans, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred around 7:32 p.m. on May 5, in the area of I-20 and East Loop 338.

Police said Vicente Aguirre, 74, of Odessa, was driving an 18-wheeler eastbound in the outside lane of I-20 while Hernandez was driving a white Nissan Sentra eastbound in the inside lane of the interstate.

Hernandez made an unsafe lane change and was hit by the semi-truck. 

Hernandez was taken to a local hospital where she later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
