Herman Garcia Killed in Calallen Two-Vehicle Crash on CR 48 at FM 1694

Calallen, Texas (August 9, 2020) – A man was killed, and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon near Calallen, according to DPS.

The fatal crash happened at about 2:00 p.m., August 8, on County Road 48 at Farm-to-Market Road 1694.

DPS said a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck was traveling northbound on FM 1694 at an unsafe speed when it reached a curve in the roadway and veered into the southbound lane. The Dodge then struck the driver’s side door of a southbound Ford Focus.

The Focus driver, Herman Garcia, 61, of Corpus Christi, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge driver was taken to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.
