Jackie Horton Parker Killed and Ashley Christine Schroeder Injured in Scotland Car Crash on Highway 281

Scotland, Texas (August 28, 2019) – One person was killed and another was injured Tuesday morning in a head-on collision near Scotland, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened around 7:00 a.m. August 27, on US 281

DPS said Jackie Horton Parker, 78, of Iowa Park, was driving a blue passenger car southbound on the highway while Ashley Christine Schroeder, of Windthorst, was driving a white SUV northbound.

Due to wet and rainy road conditions, Schroeder lost control, drove into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into Parker’s car.

Parker was declared dead at the scene.

Schoeder was taken to United Regional with serious injuries.

Two children were treated and released at the scene.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and the children were in safety seats.

The crash remains under investigation.
