Jacob Morales Killed in Pedestrian Accident on FM 1423 in Edinburg

Jacob Morales ID’d as Boy Killed in Edinburg Pedestrian Accident on FM 1423 near FM 1423

Edinburg, Texas (October 21, 2023) – The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the boy who died after he was struck by two vehicles Friday night in Edinburg as Jacob Morales, 16, of Donna.

The deadly crash happened at about 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 20, on FM 1423 near FM 1423.

DPS said Morales was walking on the northbound lane of FM 1423 when he was hit by a white Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling on the same road and heading in the same direction.

A black GMC Sierra traveling behind the Chevrolet also ran over Morales, who was lying on the ground.

Morales wore dark clothing at the time of the crash, and the road was not well-lit.

Morales was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

No further details about the accident were immediately provided.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
