James Cody Killed in Richardson TxDOT Truck Crash on Central Expressway

Richardson, Texas (March 20, 2022) – One person was killed early Saturday morning in a crash involving a Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) vehicle in Richardson, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 12:30 a.m., March 19, in the 800 block of S. Central Expressway.

Police said James Antoine Cody, 29, of Grand Prairie, was driving a Honda Accord southbound when he rear-ended a TXDOT work convoy truck that was stopped in the left lane.

The TXDOT work truck was equipped with a rear attenuator (crash barrier), as well as a large “work convoy” sign and flashing yellow arrow, indicating approaching traffic should move to the right.

Cody was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The driver of the TXDOT truck was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation
