James Martin Killed in Cass County Train Crash on County Road 4920

Cass County, Texas (January 23, 2022) – According to the Texas DPS, an elderly man was killed Friday afternoon in a train crash in Cass County.

The fatal crash happened just before 3:00 p.m., January 21, on County Road 4920, about two miles southeast of Bloomburg.

DPS said James Martin, 92, of Miller County, Arkansas, was driving across the railroad tracks when he failed to yield the right of way to a northbound Union Pacific Freight Train and was hit by the moving train.

Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details were available.

The crash remains under investigation.
