Jasmine Griffin, Eddie Bell ID’d as 2 Victims Killed in Jefferson Crash on U.S. 59 and FM 2208

Jefferson, Texas (July 7, 2023) – The two people who died in a multi-vehicle crash on Monday morning in Jefferson have been identified as Jasmine N. Griffin of Jefferson and Eddie L. Bell of Marshall.

The deadly crash happened at around 8:55 a.m. Monday, July 3, on U.S. 59 and FM 2208.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Griffin was driving a 2015 Dodge Journey westbound on FM 2208 when she entered the intersection with U.S. 59 and crashed into a 2005 Freightliner Truck Tractor towing a 2013 McLendon Semi-Trailer heading northbound on U.S. 59

Due to the impact, the Freightliner overturned and crashed into a 2015 Peterbilt Truck Tractor towing a 2012 Etnyre & Co Trailer.

Griffin died at the scene, and her passenger, Eddie L. Bell, was transported to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport, where she succumbed to her injuries nearly five hours later.

A five-year-old girl who was also a passenger in the Dodge Journey was taken to CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall with non-incapacitating injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner, Steven M. Hendrix of Douglassville, and the driver of the Peterbilt, Steven P. Brady, went to CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview with incapacitating injuries.

Authorities said all five people were wearing seatbelts during the collision.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash.
