Jeremy Singleton Killed in Austin Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 35

Austin, Texas (December 14, 2021) – Two construction workers were hit and killed by a vehicle Friday morning in south Austin, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 9:29 a.m., December 10, in the 4911 block of south Interstate 35 Service Road northbound, just north of Teri Road.

Police said a 2015 Porsche was traveling northbound on the interstate when it left the roadway and hit two crewmen who were installing road signs in a grassy area.

Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. One of them has been identified as Jeremy Singleton, 30. The two were working for a contractor hired by TxDOT at the time of the accident.

Investigators said speed was a factor in the accident.

The Porsche driver had to be extricated from his car and was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with potentially serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The authorities are investigating the crash. Anyone with any information about the crash is asked to call APD’s highway investigation division at 512-974-8111. People can also contact Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.

Who May Make a Wrongful Death Claim in Texas?

A wrongful death claim for a family member may be brought by spouses, children, or parents. The State of Texas also allows the estate of the deceased to bring a survival action to recover for past medical expenses and conscious pain and suffering, as well as other non-economic damages which the deceased may have suffered before death. Texas does not permit brothers, sisters, cousins, or grandparents to assert any claims for the death of a family member.

Wrongful death claims require an attorney who understands the complexity of the damages caused by a significant loss. The lawyer representing the client has the responsibility to hire the necessary experts to help prove the case.
