John Morrison Killed in Potter County Car Crash at Loop 335 and SW 9th Avenue

Potter County, Texas (August 13, 2019) – A man was killed in a car accident on Monday morning in Potter County, according to the DPS.

The incident took place at about 7:45 a.m. Monday, August 12, on Loop 335 and SW 9th Avenue.

DPS said John Morrison, 17, of Amarillo was driving a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS eastbound on SW 9th Avenue when he stopped at a stop sign at Loop 335. He then pulled out in front of a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 driven southbound on SL 335 by Gerald Stevens, 34, of Leadville, Colorado.

Morrison was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Stevens and his passenger, Jeffrey Chavis, 60, of Fort Worth, were unhurt in the crash.

The DPS is investigating the incident.
