John Villareal Volunteer Firefighter Injured in Two-Vehicle Accident on Murray Avenue in Rockdale

Lieutenant John Villareal Hurt in Rockdale DUI Crash on Murray Avenue

Rockdale, Texas (April 14, 2019) – A suspected DUI driver slammed into a vehicle injuring a Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department officer on Friday night in Rockville, according to the authorities.
The wreck, which happened in the 1402 block of Murray Avenue, was reported at around 10:04 p.m. Friday, April 12.
According to the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department, Lieutenant John Villareal, 39, of Rockdale, was backing into his driveway when his 2004 Chevy pickup was struck by a 2012 Chrysler four-door.
Villareal had to be extricated by the firefighters. He was taken to Seton Williamson County in an unknown condition.
The driver of the Chrysler, Candice Candrell, 29, also of Rockdale, was arrested by the Rockdale police on charges of intoxication assault with a vehicle. It’s unclear whether the driver was also hurt.
The Rockdale police are investigating the incident.
