Jonathan Herrera, Mark Martinez and Two Officers Injured in Lower Valley Two-Vehicle Crash on North Loop and Lancaster Drive

Lower Valley, Texas (July 20, 2021) – According to the police, four people, including two police officers, were injured Monday night in a two-vehicle crash in the Lower Valley.

The crash happened on July 19, at the intersection of North Loop and Lancaster Drive.

Police said an El Paso Police Department vehicle was traveling eastbound in the 9100 block of North Loop Drive while Jonathan Herrera, 26, was driving a 2005 Dodge Magnum northbound on Lancaster Drive.

Herrera ran a stop sign at the intersection and collided with the police vehicle.

The police vehicle skidded across all lanes of traffic and crashed into a rock wall after the collision.

Herrera and his passenger, Mark Martinez, 26, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The officer who was driving the police vehicle sustained minor injuries and was treated and released. The police officer in the passenger seat was taken to the hospital with a fractured femur.

Charges against Herrera are pending an investigation.

The crash remains under investigation.
