Jonathan Walker Killed in Gregg County Pedestrian Accident on SH 149

Gregg County, Texas (June 23, 2021) – A teenager was fatally hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Gregg County, according to the Texas DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 1:30 a.m., June 20, on State Highway 149, just southeast of Lakeport.

DPS said Jonathan Walker, 16, of Gilmer, was crossing an unlit area of the highway when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.

Walker was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The car driver, Ruby Martinez, 25, of Carthage, and her 17-year old female passenger were uninjured in the crash.

 The troopers are investigating the crash.
