4-Year-Old Injured in Nacogdoches County Go-Kart Hit-and-Run Crash on FM 95; Edward Mora Arrested

Nacogdoches County, Texas (September 5, 2022) – According to the Texas DPS, a 4-year-old girl was injured Sunday afternoon in a hit-and-run accident in Nacogdoches County.

The accident happened around 2:15 p.m., September 4, on Farm to Market Road 95, about one mile north of the San Augustine County line.

DPS said the girl was riding a go-cart on private property when she reportedly attempted to turn around and entered the southbound lane of the highway, where she was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet pickup.

The driver of the Chevrolet, 85-year-old Edward Mora from Center, fled the scene after the accident.

The girl was taken to Memorial Hospital in Nacogdoches for treatment.

Mora was later arrested and booked into the Shelby County Jail for failing to stop and render aid with serious bodily injury, a third-degree felony.

An investigation is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, Go-Kart, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
