Jose Lupe Alvarado Jr. Killed in Abilene Pedestrian Accident on Winters Freeway (US 277) near 1st Street

Abilene, Texas (March 8, 2020) – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night in Abilene, according to the authorities.

The deadly accident happened around 10:30 p.m., March 6, on the Winters Freeway (U.S. Highway 277) near 1st Street.

Police said Jose Lupe Alvarado Jr. of Stamford, was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of the freeway when he was hit by a 2011 Buick Lacrosse driven by an 18-year-old woman.

Alvarado Jr. was killed in the crash.

The crash closed a section of the freeway.

An investigation is underway.
