One Killed and Two Injured in Houston Three-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Freeway near Beechnut

Houston, Texas (June 20, 2020) – One person was killed, and two others were injured early Saturday morning in a suspected DUI crash in Houston, according to police.

The fatal crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on the Southwest Freeway near Beechnut.

Police said a Mustang and a white Expedition were involved in a minor fender crash in the middle of the freeway.

Both drivers stayed in the middle lane of the freeway to exchange information. That’s when an Altima came from behind and crashed into the other two vehicles.

The Mustang caught fire following the crash.

A passenger in the Altima was pronounced dead at the scene. The Altima driver and another passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Mustang driver was charged with DWI and taken into custody.

The Altima driver was also intoxicated at the time of the crash.

The Expedition driver was uninjured in the crash.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
