Jose Turrubiartes Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on US 290 in Houston

25-Year-Old Jose Turrubiartes Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on US 290 near Tidwell

Houston, Texas (March 3, 2020) – The wrong-way driver who was killed early Saturday morning in a traffic accident that also left another driver dead in Houston has been identified as Jose Turrubiartes, 25, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened at about 2:20 a.m. February 29, on Highway 290 near Tidwell.

Police said Turrubiartes was driving a truck the wrong way on the highway when he crashed into an oncoming white Toyota Corolla driven by Brandon McGhie, 26. 

Police had received several calls about the wrong-way driver, and they were trying to catch up with him before the crash.

McGhie was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Turrubiartes was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
