Kevin Perez-Viera Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on SH 302 in Winkler County

Kevin Perez-Viera Killed in Winkler County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 302

Winkler County, Texas (September 2, 2023) – A man was killed early Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Winkler County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 1:25 a.m., August 31, on SH 302.

DPS said 30-year-old Fredy Montero-Pavon was driving his Freightliner truck with a trailer westbound on the highway while 23-year-old Kevin Alexander Perez-Viera, of Hobbs, was driving his car also westbound.

Perez-Viera failed to control his speed and hit Montero-Pavon’s trailer from the back, causing Perez-Viera’s vehicle to roll over.

Perez-Viera was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
