Kristy Turner and Unborn Child Killed in Lavaca County Two-Vehicle Crash on U.S. 77

Lavaca County, Texas (February 13, 2021) – A woman and her unborn child were killed in a two-vehicle crash on Friday in Lavaca County, according to a local news source.

The fatal crash happened around 8:25 a.m., February 12, on U.S. Highway 77, six miles from Hallettsville.

According to the report, Flaviano Loredo-Maldonado, 36, was driving a Ford F-250 pickup northbound on the highway when the truck slid on ice, crossed over into oncoming traffic, and crashed head-on into a southbound Chevrolet Suburban SUV driven by Kristy Turner, 35, of Hallettsville.

Turner and her unborn child were pronounced dead at the scene.

Loredo-Maldonado was taken to the Lavaca County Medical Center, where he was treated and released into the custody of the Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office. He was waiting for the U.S Border Patrol to pick him up.

The crash remains under investigation.
