Lieutenant Jacqueline Smith Injured in Fort Worth Pedestrian Accident on I-35W

Fort Worth, Texas (November 12, 2020) – A Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday in Fort Worth, according to police.

The accident happened around 5:35 a.m., November 10, on I-35W.

Police said two vehicles were involved in a crash on the freeway. The drivers of the vehicles then stepped outside to assess the damage.

Lieutenant Jacqueline Smith stopped and stepped out of her car to check on the crash victims. She and another driver were stopped and standing outside of their cars when a third vehicle hit one of the stopped cars. The impact propelled the car into Smith and the other driver, pinning them against a retaining wall.

Smith was taken to the hospital where she underwent surgery.

The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

No other information was provided.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
