Venkata Devulapalli Killed in Potter County Two-Vehicle Crash on RM 1061 near FM 2381

Amarillo, Texas (August 24, 2020) – One person was killed, and two others were injured in a two-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Potter County, according to DPS.

The fatal crash occurred just before 12:30 p.m., August 22, on Ranch to Market (RM) 1061, north of FM 2381.

DPS said Venkata Devulapalli, 46, of Amarillo, was driving a 2010 GMC Acadia SUV and attempted to turn around to go southbound and was hit by a 2007 Peterbilt truck tractor towing a semi-trailer.

The force of the impact caused the SUV to roll over onto its top and land in the east barrow ditch while the truck came to a rest in the west barrow ditch.

Devulapalli was declared dead at the scene.

A passenger in the SUV, Rushmita Devulapalli, 17, was taken to Northwest Texas Healthcare System with serious injuries but was listed in stable condition. A 10-year-old child was also taken to Northwest Texas Healthcare System with serious injuries.

The truck driver, Miguel Cruz-Martinez, 42, of Distrito Federal, Mexico, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
