Caleb Smith Killed in Vidor Bicycle Accident on Interstate 10 at Sherwood Street

Vidor, Texas (March 12, 2023) – A man was killed Tuesday night in a bicycle accident in Vidor, according to the police.

The fatal crash happened around 9:00 p.m., March 7, on the westbound Interstate 10 service road at Sherwood Street near the Maplecrest subdivision.

Police said Caleb Smith, 39, of Vidor, was riding his bicycle eastbound along the westbound service road when he was struck by a pickup truck that was heading westbound in the outside lane.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The area is poorly lit, and Smith did not appear to have a light on his bicycle.

The police are investigating the crash.
