Maria Velazquez Hit, Killed by Car on New Laredo Highway in San Antonio

51-Year-Old Maria Velazquez Killed in San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on New Laredo Highway

San Antonio, Texas (February 24, 2020) – A woman was hit and killed by a vehicle Friday evening in San Antonio, according to the police.

The accident happened just before 7:00 p.m. February 21, in the 7500 block of New Laredo Highway, near South West Military Drive and Interstate 35.

Police said 51-year-old Maria Velazquez was driving when she pulled over and exited her vehicle. She then attempted to run across the roadway but was struck by a red GMC Denali.

The driver of the Denali stopped and rendered aid. They showed no signs of intoxication and cooperated with the investigators.

Velazquez was taken to University Hospital, where she later died.

An investigation is underway.
