Luis Castaneda Killed in Midland County Two-Vehicle Crash on State Highway 349

Midland County, Texas (July 25, 2023) – A man was killed Saturday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Midland County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 3:45 p.m., July 22, on State Highway 349, just north of Midland.

DPS said 34-year-old Luis Castaneda from Amarillo was driving a Ford F-150 westbound on the highway when he veered into the eastbound lanes and collided with a semi-truck with a trailer.

Castaneda was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the semi-truck, 36-year-old Ganiyu Olaleken Raji of Midland, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
