32-Year-Old Man Killed in El Paso Pedestrian Accident on US 54 near Fred Wilson

El Paso, Texas (January 14, 2023) – A 32-year-old man from northeast El Paso was killed on Friday in a pedestrian accident in El Paso, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 12:58 p.m., on January 13, on US 54 near Fred Wilson.

Police said a tarp fell out of a 2008 Ford F-250 and the driver, a 43-year-old man from Mission Valley, stopped the truck in the right lane of the highway.

The passenger got out of the Ford and was struck by a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 21-year-old man.

The Jetta driver swerved to the left to avoid hitting the truck but hit the passenger and an open door of the truck.

The Ford passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The crash closed the highway for several hours.

The police are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
