Galleria, Texas – A man was killed Wednesday morning in a pedestrian accident in the Galleria area, according to the police.

The deadly accident happened around 7:30 a.m., in the area of Westheimer Road and Sage Road.

Police said the man was trying to cross Westheimer Road from the northbound to the southbound side when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The impact threw the man into a second vehicle that was stopped at the intersection and was waiting to make a turn.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he later died. His name has not been released.

The driver who hit the victim left the scene and traveled down the street to turn around, but then returned to the scene and identified themselves to police as the involved driver.

The crash closed the intersection and motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, bicycle, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
