Man Struck, Killed by Pct. 4 Deputy on US-290 in Houston

Man Killed in Houston Pedestrian Accident on US-290 near Tidwell

Houston, Texas (December 28, 2020) – A man was fatally hit by a Harris County Precinct 4 deputy early Monday morning in Houston, according to police.

The accident happened around 2:00 a.m., on US-290 near Tidwell.

Police said the man was driving westbound on the highway when he tried to change lanes and struck another car.

The impact caused the man’s car to spin and hit a third vehicle. 

The man was ejected from his car during the crash and was thrown into the eastbound lanes where he was struck by a Harris County Precinct 4 deputy who was transporting a suspect in a previous incident to jail.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

The driver of the third car was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The deputy and the person in custody were uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
