Marino Gunter Killed in Gregg County Pedestrian Accident on State Highway 31

Gregg County, Texas (July 19, 2021) – A Gladewater man was struck and killed by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Gregg County, according to the DPS.

The deadly accident happened around 4:34 a.m., July 18, on State Highway 31 near Kilgore.

DPS said Christopher J. Toon, 27, of Kilgore, was driving a 2011 Toyota Corolla eastbound on the highway when he struck Marino Gunter, who was walking across the highway.

Gunter was taken to CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center – Kilgore, where he later died.

The DPS is investigating the crash.
