21-Year-Old Mark Sands Killed in Austin Scooter Accident near N. I-35 and E. 6th Street

Austin, Texas (February 5, 2019) – A man who was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle while riding a scooter in downtown Austin early Friday morning has succumbed to his injuries.
According to a police report, the accident happened at about 12:51 a.m. Friday, February 1, near N. I-35 and E. 6th Street.
Police said a silver 2006 Volkswagen Jetta was heading south on N. I-35 service road when it changed lanes and crashed into a Lime scooter rider, identified as Mark Sands, 21.
Sands was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 2.
The Austin Police Department is continuing with the investigation.
