Megan Murphy Killed in 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 36 in Callahan County

Megan Murphy ID’d as Woman Killed in Callahan County Crash on Highway 36 near Baird

Callahan County, Texas (September 27, 2022) – Authorities have identified the woman who died Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Callahan County as Megan Janea Murphy, 30, of Jarrell.

The deadly crash occurred on Highway 36, approximately 12 miles south of Baird.

According to the authorities, a pickup truck, Cory Ray Bush of Rockdale, was heading eastbound on Highway 36 when it collided with a semi-truck that was stopped in the traffic lane on the highway.

The pickup truck became disabled in the traffic lane following the crash. An SUV heading east, driven by Murphy, struck the disabled pickup truck.

Murphy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bush was transported to Hendrick Medical Center with serious, incapacitating injuries.

This crash remains under investigation. Additional information is not available at this time.
