Motorcyclist Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Southwest Freeway in Houston; Eduardo Cordona Arrested

42-Year-Old Man Killed in Houston Motorcycle Crash on Southwest Freeway (US 59); Eduardo Cordona Arrested

Houston, Texas (June 24, 2023) – According to the police, a motorcyclist was killed early Friday morning in a wrong-way crash in Houston.

The fatal crash happened around 1:40 a.m., June 23, in the 800 block of the Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59).

Police said Eduardo Umana Cordona, 25, was driving a red Kia Sorrento eastbound in the westbound lane when his vehicle collided head-on with a westbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The 42-year-old male motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

Umana Cordona and a male passenger, 25, were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Umana Cordona was determined to be intoxicated, treated at the hospital, and then transported to jail. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The police are investigating the crash.
