Nathaniel Vargas ID’d as Man Killed in Lubbock Pedestrian Accident at US-62 and FM 1729
Lubbock, Texas (July 11, 2019) – The man who was killed in a pedestrian accident last Thursday at a Lubbock intersection has been identified as 25-year-old Nathaniel Vargas, according to the authorities.
The accident happened on Thursday, July 4, at the intersection of US-62 and FM 1729.
According to witnesses, Vargas and his family were participating in Fourth of July celebrations, and Vargas was attempting to put out a fire on the other side of US-62.
After Vargas had extinguished the fire, he was struck by an oncoming Honda pickup truck driven by 52-year-old Amy Cantu.
Cantu stopped after the accident and tried to resuscitate Vargas.
Vargas was killed in the crash.
An investigation is underway.
