El Paso, Texas (June 12, 2022) – A motorcyclist was killed in a traffic crash on Saturday morning at an intersection in El Paso, police said.

The fatal accident happened at around 8:34 a.m. on Saturday, June 11 in the area of Doniphan Drive and Sunland Park Drive.

Authorities said a 28-year-old New Mexico man was riding a motorcycle westbound on Doniphan Drive towards Sunland Park Drive when he clipped the front of a Ford F-150 truck that was turning onto Doniphan from Sunland Park.

The motorcyclist then struck a 2018 Lexus waiting at a stop sign. The impact caused the rider to be thrown off the bike and hit a 2019 Volkswagen.

The motorcyclist was transported to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The crash closed Doniphan eastbound and westbound at Sunland Park.

Motorists were urged to seek alternate routes.

An investigation into the crash is underway.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
