Officer Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash on Avenue L in Lubbock

Police Officer Injured in Lubbock Two-Vehicle Crash on Avenue L

Lubbock, Texas (September 21, 2020) – A police officer was injured Sunday night in a hit-and-run crash in Lubbock, according to police.

The crash happened shortly after 9:30 p.m., September 20, in the 2600 block of Avenue L.

Authorities said the officer was driving her patrol car southbound, responding to a call while a Chevrolet Silverado was also traveling southbound.

The Silverado then rear-ended the patrol car, pushing it over the east curb where it struck a chain-link fence. The fence was pushed into a parked vehicle. The patrol vehicle continued southbound, hit a wood fence, and struck a second parked vehicle before coming to a rest.

The Silverado driver fled the scene on foot.

The officer was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the crash. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
