Orlando Valdez and Dana Watson Killed in San Marcos Dump Truck Crash on Interstate 35

San Marcos, Texas (November 16, 2019) – Two people were killed Thursday morning in a traffic collision involving a dump truck in San Marcos, according to officials.

The fatal crash happened around 2:45 a.m., November 14, in the 204B exit of southbound Interstate 35.

According to a preliminary investigation, a passenger vehicle was either stopped or was going slow in the far-right lane when it was rear-ended by a dump truck.

The driver of the passenger vehicle, Orlando Valdez, 29, of Corpus Christi, was declared dead at the scene.

The passenger in the vehicle, Dana Watson, 21, of Orange Grove, was taken to the Central Texas Medical Center where she later died.

The dump truck driver, Isaac Fettig of Spencer, Tennessee, was taken to Ascension Seton Hospital in Kyle with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
