Oscar Ruiz Critically Injured in Cottondale Crash on FM 2123 and FM 51
Cottondale, Texas (January 17, 2019) – One person was injured Monday morning in a traffic accident involving two tractor-trailers at an intersection near Cottondale, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The crash took place shortly before 6:00 a.m. Monday, January 14 at the intersection of Farm to Market Road (FM) 2123 and FM 51.
The DPS officials said Oscar Ruiz, 53, was driving a truck eastbound on FM 2123 when he ran through a red light at the intersection and struck a southbound semi operated by Zachary Suppe, 31.
Ruiz was pinned inside the cab of his truck for around half an hour before he transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth by ambulance.
Suppe was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation by police.
