Elderly Woman Killed in Houston Two-Vehicle Crash on Southwest Freeway

Houston, Texas (September 30, 2021) – An elderly woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Houston, according to the authorities.

The fatal crash happened on September 29, in the inbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway at McGowen.

Authorities said a vehicle was traveling southbound on Hamilton while a second vehicle was traveling eastbound on Pierce Street. One of the vehicles ran a red light and crashed into the other.

The impact caused the car that was traveling on Hamilton to cross over the barrier and go onto the Southwest Freeway, where it landed on the embankment of the freeway. An elderly woman who was a passenger in that car was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name has not been released. The car driver was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

Investigators said intoxication was not a factor in the crash.

The crash closed all lanes of the freeway for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
