Houston Police Officer Hospitalized after Houston Crash on South Sam Houston Parkway

Houston, Texas (April 22, 2022) – An officer with the Houston Police Department was hospitalized after his patrol vehicle was hit by an off-duty Pasadena police officer last week Thursday morning in Houston, police said.

The crash occurred at about 3:00 a.m. Thursday, April 14, in the 6000 block of S. Sam Houston Parkway E.

Police said the HPD officer was blocking traffic for a Ford Explorer that was stalled on the south beltway feeder on Wayside Drive.

Moments later, an off-duty Pasadena officer driving a Toyota Tundra pickup truck westbound rear-ended the HPD officer’s patrol car while the officer was inside.

The HPD officer, who is reportedly a 15-year veteran, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The off-duty Pasadena PD officer, who has been with the department since July 2019, was also hospitalized with minor injuries. It is undetermined if the officer was impaired at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
