Raymond Brahier Killed in Sherman County Three-Vehicle Crash on US 54

Sherman County, Texas (October 7, 2022) – One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Sherman County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 5:30 p.m., October 4, on US 54, about four miles northeast of Stratford.

DPS said Raymond Brahier, 46, of Pleasanton, was driving a 2019 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer southwest behind a 2007 Peterbilt truck tractor towing a semi-trailer, driven by Cesar Garcia-Gorral, 38, of Spearman. Buster Moody, 53, of Amarillo, was driving a 2014 Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer northeast.

The driver of the second semi slowed down to wait on the third semi to travel past, so he could turn southbound onto County Road 11.

Brahier failed to control his speed and struck the second semi’s trailer, causing it to hit the third semi and towed trailer.

Brahier was pronounced dead at the scene.

Garcia-Gorral was treated and released at the scene.

Moody was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
