Sean Philpot Killed in Head-On Crash on Washington Street in Amarillo

Sean Philpot ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Amarillo Crash at Southwest 41st Avenue and South Washington Street

Amarillo, Texas (August 11, 2023) – The motorcyclist who died on Thursday night following a head-on collision in Amarillo has been identified as Sean Philpot, 18.

According to Amarillo police, the deadly crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV happened around 9:18 p.m. Thursday, August 10, in the area of Southwest 41st Avenue and South Washington Street.

Witnesses told police that the motorcycle, driven by Philpot, was heading northbound on Washington when it collided head-on with the SUV that was turning onto Washington Street from a private parking lot and was heading southbound.

Philpot was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the SUV was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the APD Traffic Follow-Up Unit.
