San Angelo, Texas (October 18, 2022) – A San Angelo Police Sergeant was injured early Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in San Angelo, according to the police.

The crash happened shortly after midnight, on October 17, in the 2600 block of Southland Boulevard.

Police said a San Angelo Police Patrol Officer observed a white Ford Escape driving recklessly on Sherwood Way. The officer caught up with the suspect and initiated a traffic stop in the 4900 block of Houston Harte Frontage. The suspect stopped but then sped away at a high rate of speed.

The officer pursued the suspect, and officers saw the vehicle enter into a parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Southland Boulevard.

The suspect then turned around in the parking lot and collided with a pursuing patrol unit.

The suspect, 36-year-old Crystal Robles, was taken into custody for reckless driving, driving while intoxicated, and evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle. Her passenger, a 35-year-old, was initially detained but was released at the conclusion of the initial investigation. They were both uninjured.

A Sergeant with the San Angelo Police Department sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
