Shannan Burnette Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Hwy 71 in Burnet County

Shannan Burnette Killed in Burnet County Two-Vehicle Crash on Highway 71

Burnet County, Texas (December 1, 2023) – The woman who was killed Monday evening in a wrong-way crash in Burnet County has been identified as Shannan Michelle Burnette, 53, of Horseshoe Bay, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 6:52 p.m., November 27, on Highway 71 near Twisted Oak Drive.

DPS said a 2006 Dodge Ram Pickup truck was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of the highway when it crashed head-on into a westbound 2020 Ford Edge SUV.

The Ford driver, Burnette, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Dodge driver was airlifted to Dell Seton Hospital in Austin for treatment.

The troopers are investigating the crash.
