Shem Munroe Killed in Coryell County Two-Vehicle Crash on FM 929

Coryell County, Texas (July 23, 2022) – One person was killed Friday afternoon in a head-on collision in Coryell County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened on July 22, on Farm-to-Market 929 north of Gatesville.

DPS said a 58-year-old Gatesville man was driving a GMC pickup truck northbound when he reportedly fell asleep, crossed into the southbound lane, and crashed head-on into a Chevrolet Equinox driven by 46-year-old Shem Munroe, of Medford, N.Y.

Munroe was pronounced dead at the scene.

The GMC driver was taken to Coryell Memorial Hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
