Milam County, Texas (January 13, 2023) – An elderly driver was killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash in Milam County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 2:25 p.m., January 11, at the intersection of US 77 and CR 230A, about two-and-a-half miles north of Minerva.

DPS said a 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer was traveling northbound on US 77 while a 2010 Ford F-350 pickup was traveling westbound on CR 230A approaching the intersection.

The Ford driver failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign and pulled into the path of the Kenworth. The Kenworth driver attempted to avoid the collision but still collided with the Ford pickup in the southbound lane of US 77.

The Ford driver, Stephen McFaull, 93, of Cameron, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other information was available.

The troopers are investigating the crash.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

There are many different reasons why automobile, pedestrian, 18-wheeler, and motorcycle accidents occur, including driver negligence, driver inattention, texting and driving, speeding, fatigue, failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign, or private drive, running a red light, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. While the factors listed above are the main causes of most accidents, there may also be other factors involved, which is why it’s important that an investigation be conducted before evidence disappears, especially in cases involving a fatality.  At Joel A. Gordon & Associates, we will act quickly to secure accident scene photos, interview witnesses, obtain police records, and secure other valuable evidence needed to win your case.  Call now for a free consultation.
