Barkat Umatia Killed in Street Racing Crash at 183 Service Road and Payton Gin Road in North Austin

Barkat Umatia ID’d as Man Killed in North Austin Car Crash at 183 Service Road and Payton Gin Road
North Austin, Texas (January 11, 2019) – The man who was killed early last month in a two-vehicle crash involving a street racer at a North Austin intersection has been identified as Barkat Umatia,54, according to the police.
The fatal crash happened at about 8:39 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, in the area of 183 service road and Payton Gin Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, Umatia was driving a 2004 Honda sedan northbound on Payton Gin Road when he collided with a 2006 Mercedes sedan which was heading westbound on the service road of 183, at the intersection.
The Mercedes was reportedly racing with another vehicle when the crash happened.
Umatia was declared dead at the scene.
Police said the Honda acquired damage on the right side while the Mercedes was damaged on the front end.
