Erath County, Texas (July 15, 2021) – A woman was killed on Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash in Erath County, according to the Texas DPS.

The fatal crash happened around 12:08 p.m., July 14, on U.S. Highway 67.

DPS said Tammie Lynn Combs, 50, of Stephenville, was driving a 2015 Chrysler van northbound on the highway when she failed to see a vehicle stopped in front of her that was preparing to make a left turn onto a business.

The Chrysler then rear-ended a trailer that was being towed by a 2005 International Cub Cadet.

Combs was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two passengers in the Chrysler, ages 8 and 10, were taken to a Stephenville hospital for treatment.

The International Cub Cadet driver, Mark W. Lively, 63, of Hico, was uninjured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.

Common Causes of Automobile Accidents

While there are many causes of car accidents, the most common reasons of driver negligence include driver inattention; cell phone use; texting and driving; speeding; fatigue; failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign or private drive; running a red light; and driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs,” Attorney Joel A. Gordon said. Mr. Gordon believes that an independent investigation is important. An Attorney will help obtain the crash report, secure accident photos, interview witnesses, and create a claim.
